A Classical problem, again. It is your touch chip. No matter how Apple put it, and now they refuse to repair your phone, if you don’t have proof of purchase. Well done Apple.
Anyway, this repair, is a bit different than last time we did it. This has a broken trace on the logic board, which complicates the issue a little bit. But this particular trace, called M1 , break so often that more than half of the iPhone 6 plus with touch not working problem would have this particular trace broken.
Why did it break in the first place? Poor screw hole location and flexible / bendy casing.
Let’s get straight into it, touch IC removed, pads cleaned, thats how the logic board looks like under microscope.
Look at the top left corner, that missing pad.
How to fix it? well, run micro jumper, but before we do that, we need to expose the trace on logic board
Trace exposed, see that beautiful copper colored trace?
then we need some wires, any wire , well, thin wire will do.
some random wire…
Use that wire to link the missing pad and the trace
then put in UV light
fixed. 🙂
